Abstract

Abstract Agricultural mechanization application can help Indonesia’s economic development because agriculture is the third largest sector that contributes to Indonesia’s economic structure. In an effort to increase rice productivity, the government provides assistance to farmer groups (FG) for agricultural tools and machinery for pre-harvest to post-harvest, such as combined harvesters. By employing good management, it is expected that this assistance can be utilized properly. This study analyzed the utilization management and economic performance of government-assisted combine harvesters in Wajo Regency, which includes costs, income, efficiency, and break-even point (BEP), by using survey and interview methods on FG Sipurennu, FG Laecu I, FG Padaidi, FG Sipatuo, and private ownership. The study results showed that all FG had performed management functions, while private ownership only performed some of the management functions. In carrying out the planning function, FG and private ownership make a plan to carry out maintenance on the combine harvester, like oil change and engine check, before the next harvesting season. Based on economic performance, the utilization of combine harvesters by all FG was efficient and profitable, while private ownership was not efficient and experienced loss. The results showed that FG Sipatuo had the largest net income, i.e. IDR 63,492,960, and the highest Return Cost Ratio (RCR) of 1.424 RCR. The value above one means that the business was feasible and can be developed. Meanwhile, the smallest net income was private ownership, with a net income of IDR -8,392,301 and the lowest RCR of 0.949. This value is less than I, which means the business was not feasible.
