The role of organisational activities against burnout and turnover intention

Employee burnout and turnover are issues that often occur in many organisations, but more often in the banking industry. Various activities are carried out to overcome them, and we study how effective compensation, organisational climate, and leadership are affecting those issues among state-owned banks employees in South Sulawesi, Indonesia. A questionnaire was conducted with 251 employees of the banks. Partial least square (PLS) analysis was applied to analyse and verify all the data. This study indicates that compensation, organisational climate, and leadership directly affect turnover intention. However, compensation and organisational climate do not directly affect burnout, except leadership. In addition, we also found that each organisation only focuses on one of them, though companies need to pay attention to all their activities to minimise the emergence of burnout and turnover, even if it is just an intention.
