The Evaluation of Nutritional Quality of Rice Bran Adulterated with Rice Husks as Animal Feed Ingredients

Abstract
Rice bran is a common feed ingredient used as animal feed. However, rice bran is often adulterated with the addition of rice husks. The purpose of this study was to determine the nutritional quality of rice bran subjected to adulteration with rice husks at different levels of impurity. To test the level of adulteration of rice bran with husks, rice bran and husks were mixed in a ratio of 0; 2.5; 5; 7.5; up to 100% rice bran with 100; 97.5; 95.0; 92.5; up to 0% husk. Parameters observed were nutritional quality using proximate analysis. The regression analysis showed that adding 1% rice husk will increase the ash content by 0.116%, crude fiber content by 0.365%, reduced water content by 0.027%, crude fat content by 0.155%, and crude protein content 0.108%. The nutritional quality of rice bran that has been adulterated with rice husks has decreased with the increasing amount of rice husk contamination in rice bran.
