Abstract

KL Barombong is a training vessel for BP2IP Barombong seafarers cadets. The vessel length has been increased by around 8 meters and was equipped with 2 x 445 kW main engines and 2 propulsion systems (twin screws) which have not been changed. Planning and selecting the capacity of the main engine must meet the vessel resistance dan speed criteria. Therefore, the recalculation of the required power was based on the post-modification condition. From the present study, it can be proved theoretically that the planning of propulsion systems in the ship can be applied in real-time and according to the desired requirements. The used matching calculation was the Holtrop method. From the results of these calculations, it can be seen that the ship was capable of moving at a speed of 11.5 knots with the power of the main engine in its possession, and to reach the operating speed, the engine power required was 961.45 kW.
