Abstract
The COVID-19 pandemic has shifted the meaning of public space from tangible to virtual. Socialization and recreational activities in city parks are strictly limited. On the other hand, activities that take place in houses with a high frequency have reached a saturation point, which can cause stress and mental disorders in the community. Green prescription is considered one of the solutions to maintain physical and mental health, and patients are encouraged to do outdoor activities. However, the concept needs adjustment during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study aimed to identify the potential of public open spaces in coastal settlements in Makassar City as a public space that supports the Green Prescription Program, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. This research was conducted in Tallo Village, Tallo District, Makassar City. Observations were conducted to obtain data. A literature review was conducted to obtain indicators of public spaces that support Green Prescriptions. Furthermore, these indicators are used in spatial analysis to identify the potential of existing open spaces. Based on the analysis results, it was found that the existing open space physically met the Green Prescription indicators. However, from a non-physical perspective, the activities that occur in open spaces are less diverse. Children dominate users of open spaces. In addition, they do not apply health protocols, such as wearing masks and maintaining social distance.
