Abstract

Indonesia is a humid tropical country. Utilization of sunlight as a source of natural light, will be able to reduce electrical energy consumptions in buildings. Architects are expected to design buildings that are aesthetically pleasing comfortable users, including visual comfort. The building facade model is a factor in designing an aesthetically pleasing building. The purpose of this study was to analyze the shape of the facade at the Menara Phinisi Building in Makassar, namely the diagonal, horizontal and vertical facades. The analysis was carried out to determine the level of illumination in a space that has these three forms of facades. Before making changes to the facade, analyze the assessment of the form of direct measurements in the field. Changes in the shape of the facade are carried out to determine the increase in the illumination value of the building. The research method quantitatively is to describe the value of the measurement results and simulation results in the form of tables and graphs. The results showed that the Diagonal facade model can increase the distribution of sunlight, if it provides space between one diagonal plane and another. in the horizontal facade model, the key is that the flat horizontal facade is higher than the sloping horizontal facade, as well as in the vertical facade model. The contribution of the results of this study, is that it can be a guide in designing building facades that are feasible to use and maximize the use of solar energy.
