Q3Abstract
Milkfish (Chanos chanos) is one of the most important aquaculture species in Southeast Asia. The intensification of culture systems has raised concerns regarding fish health and sustainability, making scientific research on this species increasingly relevant. This study presents a bibliometric analysis of the global literature on milkfish health published between 2015 and 2025. Data from the Scopus database (348 documents) were analyzed using VOSviewer, Tableau, and OpenRefine to map publication and citation trends, leading journals, authors, affiliations, and thematic networks of the literature. The results show that research remains geographically concentrated in Asia, particularly Taiwan, Indonesia, and the Philippines, with limited but notable contributions from non-Asian countries. Although the number of publications remains stable, citation trends have declined since 2019, suggesting reduced global visibility. Keyword analysis indicates a transition from descriptive studies to molecular approaches, nutrition, and sustainability. The identified research gaps include limited molecular studies, weak international collaboration, and insufficient integration with emerging issues such as antimicrobial resistance. Strengthening cross-disciplinary and international research is essential to enhance visibility, support sustainable production, and secure the role of milkfish in global food security.
