Gambir is the result of extracting the leaves and twigs of the gambir plant with hot water which is precipitated and then molded and dried. Gambir contains high levels of antinutrients, especially catechins, and tannins, which can be used as defaunation agents for ruminants and reduce total gas production and methane emissions. It was a completely randomized study with 8 treatment and three replications. These treatments followed: A: Sutera, B: Langgai, C: Pangkalan, D: Simpang Kapuk, E: Traju, F: Maek, G: Tolang, and H: Talang Maur. The variables studied included tannin, catechin, and saponin content. Data analysis was conducted in this study using analysis of variance, with further tests of differences between treatments using the DMRT test. Consequently, the result revealed that the treatments affected (P<0.05) the variables of tannins, catechins, and saponins. The identification also provided that the highest amount of catechin was 71.37% in gambir from Traju while the tannin amount was 71.51% in the same gambir from Traju While the saponin percentage found was 1.37% in gambir from Maek. ## Keywords - Antinutrient - Ruminant - Reduction (mathematics) - Chemistry - Methane - Food science - Agronomy - Biology - Mathematics - Pasture - Organic chemistry - Phytic acid - Geometry --- Sumber: Discover Unhas — RIMS Universitas Hasanuddin.
