Abstract
Abstract The level of dependency on direct benefits from forest products, especially for communities living near the forest, continues to increase due to population growth. This situation poses challenges, as the rising village population may lead to conflicts of interest and resource use that surpasses the area’s carrying capacity. To mitigate these conflicts, the government initiated a social forestry program known as Community Forestry (HKm). One such program is implemented in Mattirowalie, Barru Regency. This study aims to calculate the total income and evaluate the level of community dependency on the Community Forestry program in Mattirowalie Village, Barru Regency, South Sulawesi. Data collected were analyzed using income analysis (production costs, revenue, and income), contribution analysis, and dependency level analysis. Results show that the average income earned by farmers is IDR 65,853,090 per year, with a relatively low community dependency level of 25%. This low dependency is attributed to the focus solely on direct economic benefits, excluding significant contributions from invaluable forest ecosystem services.
