Q4Abstract
Lupus erythematous (LE) is an autoimmune disease with multiorgan involvement. The manifestation of LE may be systemic (SLE) or localized such as on the skin (cutaneous lupus erythematosus, CLE). There are various subtypes of CLE that can be further classified namely acute (ACLE), subacute (SCLE), and chronic (CCLE). Discoid lupus erythematosus (DLE) is the most common subtypes of CCLE. Patients with generalized DLE may develop SLE more rapidly compared to those with localized DLE. We report a case of a 33-year-old male with SLE that was proceeded with DLE. The diagnosis was confirmed through skin biopsy, highlighting disease progression of untreated cases of localized LE that prompts physicians to be more aware and administer proper and adequate treatment to prevent morbidity and complication.
