Abstract
The purpose of this study was to determine the application of biosecurity in pig farms. Biosecurity is one of the measures to prevent the transmission of infectious diseases to livestock in cages. This research was conducted in 2022 in Tallunglipu sub-district, North Toraja district, South Sulawesi. This type of research is descriptive quantitative. Data sourced from primary data and secondary data. Primary data obtained from observations and interviews using a questionnaire. Secondary data comes from reports and other documents. The population is all pig farmers in North Toraja district. The sample was determined purposively as many as 40 pig farmers. The biosecurity variables used are sanitation, isolation and traffic control in the pig farm area. The Guttman scale is used for scoring the answers to the questions, namely 1 for applying, and 0 for not applying. The results showed that the highest percentage for the application of biosecurity was sanitation measures (35.60%), followed by isolation (30.733%) and the smallest was traffic control in the livestock area (9.09%). On average, the application of biosecurity in pig farms is 25.14% and placing it in the low adopter category.
