Abstract
Slum settlements are one of the urban problems that are developing nationally and internationally. This is what underlies the fact that, besides the physical or spatial problems caused, there are also assets or areas that have the potential to develop to improve the quality of life of the people. As one of the methods of handling slum areas, the slum tourism approach is considered capable of fulfilling aspects of sustainability, so changes in slum areas within the scope of slum tourism become one of the interesting focuses. One of the interesting cases that occurred in the Tallo slum settlement, where the settlement is located above the water of the Tallo river. This study aims to analyse the characteristics of slum settlements that can support them as a slum tourism area. This research was conducted using descriptive analysis techniques and the scoring and weighting of 91 respondents. The results of the study show that the attractiveness of the Tallo slum can support it as a slum tourism area. The importance of a tourism product and the typology of slum settlements that are in accordance with slum tourism are important to continue so that a sustainable slum tourism area is formed and improves the living conditions of its inhabitants.
