Malignancy causes disruption in the hemostatic system which puts patients with malignancy at risk for thrombosis and bleeding. Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a disease caused by a new type of coronavirus, namely Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), was first reported in Wuhan in December 2019. The predominant coagulation abnormalities in patients with COVID-19 suggest a hypercoagulable state, which has been termed thromboinflammation or COVID-19-associated hemostatic abnormalities (CAHA). It is reported that patients with malignancy have a two-fold higher COVID-19 infection rate in comparison to the general population. Patients with malignancy who are infected with COVID-19 have two-fold increase of mortality rate compared to patients without malignancy. This study aims to determine the correlation between coagulopathy and mortality in malignancy patients infected with COVID-19.METHODS: This study is a cross-sectional analytic study, the data were taken from the medical records of inpatients at RSUP Dr. Wahidin Sudirohusodo Makassar from March 2020 to December 2022. The subjects of the study were patients with malignancy and infected with COVID-19 who met the inclusion criteria of the study. Data analysis using SPSS v. 25 with the Kruskal-Wallis Test and Sperman’s Correlation Test. Statistical test results are considered significant if the P value <0.05.RESULTS: In this study, mortality was found to be higher in conditions of thrombocytopenia, prolonged PT and aPTT, increased D-dimer, and low fibrinogen levels, but statistically insignificant (P>0,05).CONCLUSIONS: Thrombocytopenia, prolonged PT and aPTT, increased D-dimer, and low fibrinogen levels is associated with mortality in malignancy patients infected with COVID-19, although statistically insignificant. ## Keywords - Coagulopathy - Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) - Malignancy - 2019-20 coronavirus outbreak - Medicine - Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) - Correlation - Virology - Intensive care medicine - Internal medicine - Disease - Outbreak - Infectious disease (medical specialty) - Mathematics - Geometry --- Sumber: Discover Unhas — RIMS Universitas Hasanuddin.
