The Constant-Murley Shoulder Outcome Score (CMS) was one of the first shoulder joint scores developed. It is the most used score for evaluating shoulder disorders and is approved for shoulder function assessment by the European Society for Surgery of the Shoulder and the Elbow. Since no previous studies have used this system in clavicle fracture patients in Makassar, Indonesia, this study assessed its use in this population.METHODS: This non-randomized trial used a true experimental design comprising groups of patients with clavicle fractures treated at three hospitals in Makassar, Indonesia, with and without surgical intervention between August 2021 and January 2022. The impacts of age, sex, nutritional status, involved side, injury mechanism, complication type, and procedure type on CMS were assessed. All results with P<0.05 were considered statistically significant.RESULTS: CMS differed significantly by age, complication type, and procedure type (P<0.05) but not by sex, nutritional status, involved side, and injury mechanism.CONCLUSIONS: The mean CMS in clavicle fracture patients differed significantly by age, complication type, and procedure type. Therefore, the CMS can be used as a prognostic indicator to comprehensively assess the functional outcome of the shoulder joint, especially in patients with clavicle fractures. ## Keywords - Clavicle - Medicine - Elbow - Surgery - Shoulder joint - Complication - Physical therapy --- Sumber: Discover Unhas — RIMS Universitas Hasanuddin.
