Some of these benefits include good strength, low possibility of alkali-silica reaction and the decrease in drying shrinkage in concrete. It is a challenge to use limestone along with seawater as mixing water. Nowadays, freshwater (tap water) depletion is progressing at a rapid pace globally, and therefore, it is becoming imperative to use seawater in concrete production because tap-water reserves are either limited or its transport is costly. Such conditions are often encountered in coastal projects and construction engineers then become doubtful regarding the usability of seawater in such cases. However, in unavoidable scenarios, the use of seawater is recommended only for plain concrete. This study aims to investigate the effect of limestone as coarse aggregate and seawater as mixing water on corrosion potential of steel bar in the very early age 14-days. The results indicated that the effectiveness of various limestone ratio in the very early age of concrete only slightly. Further, seawater has potential used as mixing water on concrete. Although the setting time of cement become longer by using seawater, however, corrosion potential showed in positive tendencies. ## Keywords - Seawater - Shrinkage - Corrosion - Cement - Mixing (physics) - Tap water - Environmental science - Aggregate (composite) - Geotechnical engineering - Materials science - Geology - Metallurgy - Environmental engineering - Composite material - Oceanography - Physics - Quantum mechanics --- Sumber: Discover Unhas — RIMS Universitas Hasanuddin.
