Abstract
To determine the effectiveness of a floating pontoon pier which also functions as a floating breakwater in reducing waves, it is necessary to know the magnitude of the transmission coefficient (Kt), which is the ratio between the wave height after passing the floating breakwater and the wave height before hitting the floating breakwater. This final project aims to determine the effectiveness of a series of floating structures in reducing the transmission wave height by using a palm fiber divider and determine the influencing parameters. The type of research used is experimental physical modeling in the laboratory. The effect of the addition of palm fiber volume on the transmission coefficient can cause the transmission coefficient to decrease in value. It was found that the parameters that affect the magnitude of the transmission wave on the floating structure with palm fiber insulation are period (T), incident wave height (Hi), the volume of palm fiber used, and depth of sinking of the draft (D).
