Abstract

This research aims to analyze factors that are related to the performance of mosquito larvae observer cadres in controlling dengue in Palopo city. The type of this study was observational research with cross sectional design. The study was conducted in 5 areas of public health centers in Palopo city which have mosquito larvae observes. There are 50 populations collected with total sampling and data were collected using interview and questionnaires. The data analysis used chi-square test and logistic regression. The result indicate that the majority of respondents aged 28-32 years (30%) educated Senior High School or the same level (62.0%), married status (90.0%), length of service <3 years and >3 years is the same amount (50%) and all of them live in work site (100%). The result of chi square test indicates that the existence of relationship between knowledge (p=0.002), skill (p=0.016), social condition of work environment (p=0.002) and individual need (p=0.006) with performance of mosquito larvae observer in dengue control. The result of dominant variable analysis by logistic regression test with backward method indicate that the most significant variable having connection with mosquito larvae observer in controlling dengue are the factor of skill (p=0.006; Exp (B) = 8.443) and then social condition factor (p= 0.008; Exp (B) = 7.455.
