Abstract

Mt. Panderman is young stratocone formed in Quaternary which is located at Kawi-Butak Volcanic complex near Batu City, Malang. Research about Kawi-Butak volcanic complex or Mt. Panderman is still less. Although no historical eruptions are known from both Kawi-Butak Volcanic complex and Mt. Panderman after 1600th, they still have possibility of volcanic hazard on the future. One of volcanic hazard is volcanic debris avalanche produced from flank collapse. This research focused to study about distribution and possibility of volcanic debris avalanche produced by collapsing of Mt. Panderman’s flank. Methods that used in this research are remote sensing involve geomorphology, lineament structure features, and rocks interpretation. Horeshoescarp (amphitheatre) and hummocks features indicate that Mt. Panderman has collapsed producing volcanic debris avalanche products, forming Mt. Seruk in the northeastern of Mt. Panderman amphitheatre. Based on its distribution, morphology and lineament density, Batu city has possibility to get the impact of sector collapse in the future.
