Abstract

In 2045, Indonesia will mark a century of independence. Home to about 3.6% of the world's population,1 Indonesia is the world's largest archipelagic state and home to the most populous island on Earth. Almost 290 million people are spread across approximately 6000 inhabited islands, with historically unique languages, ethnicities and cultures.2 The result is a country of extraordinary geographic, ethnic, linguistic, and cultural diversity. The country's burden of disease is also not shared evenly.
