This study evaluates the potential of green infrastructure (GI) as a nature-based solution to mitigate urban flood risk. Spatial analysis using GIS was conducted to map flood vulnerability by combining slope, elevation, soil type, land cover, rainfall intensity, and river density. Hydrological analysis using the Log Pearson III method and the rational method quantified rainfall frequency and surface runoff volume. Results indicate that approximately 33% of rainfall becomes surface runoff, producing a peak discharge of 377 m 3 /s over a 60.29 km 2 urban catchment. The vulnerability map shows that several urban villages are classified as highly prone to flooding (Tappanjeng, Palantikang, Letta, Lembang, Lamlaka, Mallilingi, Karatua), emphasizing the need for integrated mitigation strategies. Implementing GI elements—such as permeable pavements, bioswales, infiltration wells, and rain gardens—is projected to reduce peak runoff, enhance water infiltration, and improve overall urban flood resilience. The findings provide an evidence-based reference for local governments to integrate GI into flood mitigation and urban planning policies. This study highlights the importance of nature-based solutions as a complement to conventional grey infrastructure in managing urban floods effectively. ## Keywords - Flood mitigation - Flood myth - Green infrastructure - Water resource management - Environmental science - Flooding (psychology) - Surface runoff - Disaster mitigation - Vulnerability (computing) - Drainage - Hydrology (agriculture) - Urban planning - Urban infrastructure - Environmental planning - Vulnerability assessment - Suitability analysis - Urban area - Land use - HEC-HMS - Infiltration (HVAC) - Environmental resource management - Geography - Stormwater - Emergency management - Natural disaster - Low-impact development - Geographic information system - Floodplain - Land-use planning - Spatial planning - Urban runoff - Urbanization - Flood forecasting - Environmental engineering - Drainage basin --- Sumber: Discover Unhas — RIMS Universitas Hasanuddin.
