INTRODUCTION: Cerebral visual impairment (CVI) represents a category of vision disorders that manifest during childhood. It constitutes the most prevalent variety of pediatric visual impairment within developed nations. Structured inventories/questionnaires can be useful in screening. Several studies have shown that vision function questionnaires can be used as broad screening tools. This systematic review aims to determine the effectivity of Visual Functioning Questionnaire as a screening tool in assessing CVI.EVIDENCE ACQUISITION: This research is a systematic review study regarding Visual Functioning Questionnaire as a screening tool in assessing CVI. The literature search used the preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses (PRISMA) guidelines through the Science Direct, Clinical Key, Cochrane, and PubMed with the keywords “cerebral visual impairment,” “Visual Functioning Questionnaire,” and “screening.”EVIDENCE SYNTHESIS: There were five final articles identified in this systematic review that met the inclusion criteria. The entire article discusses the Visual Functioning Questionnaire as a screening tool in identifying CVI. Of the five articles identified, there were articles found that vision functioning questionnaire such as Higher Visual Function Deficits in Children with Visual Impairments-51, Parental Questionnaire for children with CVI, Five Questions (vision functioning), and CVI Questionnaire, Austin Assessment App Questionnaire are potentially useful screening tool who potentially have CVI related visual issues.CONCLUSIONS: The Austin Assessment App Questionnaire and similar Visual Functioning Questionnaires are promising and practical tools for the early detection of CVI in children.
