The R-CHOP regimen, which includes rituximab, cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, vincristine, and prednisone, is extensively utilized in therapy. Corticosteroids, such as prednisone, are crucial in first treatment; however, the choice of regimen is contingent upon the kind of lymphoma. Abnormal glucose metabolism is a notable adverse consequence of glucocorticoids. This study examines alterations in the glycemic profile of patients undergoing R-CHOP and CHOP treatment.METHODS: This research is a prospective cohort study that is observational and analytical, done at the Laboratory of Hematology and the Polyclinic of Ear, Nose, Throat, Head and Neck Surgery at Dr. Wahidin Sudirohusodo Teaching Hospital (RSP) Hasanuddin University and Army Hospital (RST) Pelamonia.RESULTS: Blood glucose levels (BGL) markedly elevated in NHL patients following chemotherapy: 4.02 mg/dL after the first cycle, 3.05 mg/dL after the second, and 2.51 mg/dL after the third. Fasting blood sugar (FBS) increased markedly: 7.17 mg/dL following the first cycle, 6.51 mg/dL after the second, and 2.22 mg/dL subsequent to the third. Comparative research revealed that the most significant rises in BGL and FBS transpired during the initial cycle, with a gradual decline in the following cycles.CONCLUSIONS: This study observed a notable elevation in BGL levels following chemotherapy in the first, second, and third cycles. The mean variation in BGL and FBS between chemotherapy cycles indicated that the most significant elevation in BGL and FBS levels occurred during the first cycle, followed by the second cycle, with the least increase observed after the third round of chemotherapy. ## Keywords - Medicine - Internal medicine - Chemotherapy - Glycemic - Hematology - Regimen - Lymphoma - CHOP - Adverse effect - Oncology - Prospective cohort study - Chemotherapy regimen - Cohort - Hypoglycemia - Gastroenterology - Cohort study - Clinical trial - Surgery - Incidence (geometry) - Cancer - Malignant lymphoma - Observational study - Blood sugar --- Sumber: Discover Unhas — RIMS Universitas Hasanuddin.
