UTI includes asymptomatic and symptomatic infections of the bladder. UTIs among pregnant women must be treated with antibiotics because of the risk of health complications. This study aimed to determine the characteristics of pregnant women with UTI seeking treatment at public health centers in Makassar, Indonesia.METHODS: Demographic data of pregnant women with symptoms of UTI were collected and analyzed.RESULTS: The results showed that the prevalence of UTI was highest among pregnant women who were not employed, were in their second trimester, did not routinely clean the feminine area, and had a history of having sexual intercourse <3 per week.CONCLUSIONS: Pregnant women are highly vulnerable to UTIs, especially if they have predisposing factors that cause UTIs. The results of the urine microscopic examination in this study can be used as an accurate supporting examination for diagnosing UTIs at the PHC level in Makassar. ## Keywords - Medicine - Urinary system - Asymptomatic - Pregnancy - Hygiene - Obstetrics - Urine - Public health - Sexual intercourse - Asymptomatic bacteriuria - Antibiotics - Pediatrics - Gynecology - Epidemiology - Physical examination - Focus group - Obstetric history - Reproductive health - Population - Environmental health - Discontinuation - Cross-sectional study - Incidence (geometry) - Family planning - Health services --- Sumber: Discover Unhas — RIMS Universitas Hasanuddin.
