Q4Abstract
INTRODUCTION: Elevated red blood cell distribution width (RDW) is considered a significant prognostic marker, particularly in chronic respiratory diseases such as chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases.EVIDENCE ACQUISTION: This bibliometric study provided a comprehensive analysis of global trends on RDW in respiratory diseases. Using the Scopus database, this study investigated publishing trends, significant contributing nations, influential authors and institutions, as well as major issues using keyword analysis.EVIDENCE SYNTHESIS: The results showed that the bibliometric study of trends on RDW from 2003 to 2024 provided valuable insights into global efforts and served as a valuable prognostic tool in respiratory diseases. However, elevated RDW could also be influenced by various non-respiratory factors, such as inflammation and underlying comorbidities, which may complicate the interpretation in clinical settings. By identifying major countries, journals, authors, and themes in this discipline, this study illuminated collaborative networks between academics and institutions, underscoring the need for global cooperation.CONCLUSIONS: RDW is considered an efficient diagnostic tool in respiratory diseases, although the interpretation is complicated by various factors, necessitating further studies and global collaboration.
