Abstract
Stroke is a significant health issue in Indonesia, with a prevalence rate of 10.9 per 1000 population, according to the Basic Health Research (Riskesdas) data in 2018. It ranks as the third most common disease after heart disease and cancer and is the leading cause of disability worldwide. With advancements in diagnostic technology and appropriate therapeutic interventions, the mortality and disability rates resulting from stroke can be reduced. This research focuses on developing a hand exoskeleton for post-stroke patient rehabilitation. Available hand rehabilitation exoskeletons primarily concentrate on power grip or precision grip, often neglecting issues related to the wrist. This study aims to design and analyze control mechanisms for the wrist, power grip, and activation of all five fingers, allowing optimal hand therapy for post-stroke patients. As a result, this research contributes by designing a solution that aligns more closely with patient preferences and needs, enabling the optimal use of the exoskeleton in the post-stroke rehabilitation process. This research provides a crucial foundation for developing a more comprehensive hand exoskeleton for post-stroke rehabilitation, which can offer more excellent benefits to patients post-stroke.
