Abstract

To address the issue of tuna processing while at sea, the development of a specialized fishing vessel capable of processing the caught fish onboard becomes imperative. Such a vessel would enable fishermen to optimize loading space by storing only the processed parts. This study focuses on designing a fishing vessel tailored for the efficient processing of albacore tuna, prevalent in the southern waters of Java, into packaged fillet processed products. The ship’s main dimensions are derived from a vessel in Macduff Ship Design, a reputable Naval Architecture company. The design process involves advanced tools such as Maxsurf Modeler and AutoCAD software. Additionally, meticulous calculations for resistance using Maxsurf Resistance software and ship stability analysis through Maxsurf Stability software ensure compliance with stringent naval architecture standards. The resulting ship features an overall length (LOA) of 26.7 m, waterline length (LWL) of 25.2 m, plumb line length (LPP) of 20.5 m, width (B) of 7.5 m, hull height (H) of 4.25 m, and a load (T) of 2.25 m. Key coefficients reflecting hydrodynamic characteristics, such as coefficient prismatic (CP), coefficient block (Cb), coefficient midship (CM), and coefficient waterplane (CWP), were carefully considered. The vessel is designed to achieve a speed of 10 knots, ensuring operational efficiency in various maritime conditions. Complementing the innovative design, the ship is equipped with three main processing units, starting with a fish head and body cutter. This holistic approach aims to revolutionize tuna fishing practices in Indonesia, offering a sustainable solution for maximizing catch efficiency while adhering to global standards in naval architecture and fisheries management
