Abstract

In an off-grid solar system, the photovoltaic (PV) parameter should be monitored routinely in order to guarantee the PV system’s dependable and consistent operation. An effective monitoring system is essential to maintain system quality and prevent fault occurrences. This study aims to design a portable monitoring system for a solar power plant by utilizing the Internet of Things (IoT) and Blynk application. The prototype consists of PZEM-017 DC, PZEM-016 AC, ESP 32 Module, RS485 TTL Converter Module, Jumper cable, and Blynk application. The output of this study is an early-stage telemetry prototype that only focuses on three parameters, i.e. voltage, current and power. The telemetry was designed to store the numerical parameter data and display them as graphs on the blynk application for easy data monitoring. The test results show that the system built can work properly. The average measurement error rate for voltage, current, and power without load is 1.44%, 2.23%, and 3.50%, respectively.
