Synthetic Nanoparticles for Anticancer Drugs

Abstract

Nanoparticles have been used for many purposes including for anticancer treatment. Drug delivery nanoparticles have the capability to deliver drug molecules directly into cells and target the tumour in tissue because of the irregular interrupted nature of tumours. Nanoparticles are designed to carry drugs and release them to the targeted site. These particles can be employed as agents in molecular imaging for diagnostic purposes and treatment monitoring.In cancer research, nanoparticles are being developed to improve the efficacy of drugs in reaching the target with fewer side effects. This chapter presents a brief overview of synthetic nanoparticles for anticancer drugs.
