Abstract
The Forest and Society International Conference 2024 - Forest Frontiers: Between Well-being and Inequality Muhammad Alif K. Sahide, Karno B. Batiran, Fatwa Faturachmat, Siti Halimah Larekeng, Andi Vika Faradiba Muin, Grace Yee Wong, Micah R. Fisher, Awang Azman Awang Pawi, Nurhady Sirimorok, and Pamula Mita Andary Introduction The Forest and Society International Conference (The 1 st FSIC, 2024) offers an arena to (re)consider forest and forest-related issues through interdisciplinary approaches. The The 1 st FSIC, 2024 is a hybrid event that tackles cross-cutting issues related to forest frontiers and brings together international scholars from various countries and disciplines. It is an avenue for open research exchange and critical discussions. The conference welcomes papers that discuss various themes related to a continuum between well-being and inequality in forest frontiers. They may range from livelihoods, land use, environmental justice, ecosystem services, forest governance, decolonization, and territorialization to indigeneity, as well as interaction between them. The conference took place on July 27 th 2024, in the LPPM Building of Universitas Hasanuddin, Makassar, Indonesia. The conference was taking both in-person and virtually to accommodate some participants and speakers from abroad and other areas of Indonesia to attend the conference. The conference was attended by 98 presenters and 17 keynote speakers. We received 32 full paper submissions and accepted 31 manuscripts.
