## Abstract
Indonesia belongs to ‘mega diversity’ countries and its lush tropical forest has been the source of the national economy since the beginning of independence. Unfortunately, due to unsustainable management and rampant corruption at almost every level of government, Indonesian deforestation is among the highest in the world. Unfortunately, due to corruption and mismanagement, Indonesians remain poor. This chapter portrays the relationship between politics and corruption and irresponsible management of the nation’s natural resources. It suggests ways to minimize corruption and stop the Indonesian government from its half-hearted enforcement of natural resources-related laws.
