Performance of Soekarno Hatta Ports Breakwater to Reduce Wave Height

Abstract

Construction of a breakwater to calmness port water basin must consider many aspects. The main purpose is to assure the ships can loading and unloading cargo safely. For this reason, the collecting environment data related to the breakwater location must complete. In this paper wave height ratio of the breakwater was examine. Value of wave height ratio expected as lower as possible to ensure water basin area suitable to ships activity. The object that was analysed is the breakwater of Soekarno-Hatta Port located in front of quay about 1500 m ahead. An application program based on diffraction phenomena with wave water boundary to solve the problem was applied. It can be confirmed that the construction of breakwater is effective to reduce wave height. In this case wave direction is ninety degrees based on wave rose analysis and inputted as the main wave direction. Regular wave type only using as well to running the program. From the graph analysis breakwater can reduce incoming wave height by 50% and wave height ratio lower than 0.3. It is effective to keep water basin calm for ships activity.
