Participation of farmers in extension of beef cattle farming in Barru District, Barru Regency

Abstract

Abstract One of the efforts to maintain and develop beef cattle farming is extension. Extension has an important role in the development of farmers. Extension is expected to lead to changes in the knowledge, attitudes, and skills of farmers so that they are able to raise livestock and try better and more profitable livestock. This study aims to determine the level of participation of farmers in extension of beef cattle farming. The sampling technique was carried out by simple random sampling of 90 cattle farmers in ten villages in Barru District. Data collection was carried out through interviews with the help of questionnaires analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results showed that the level of farmer participation in beef cattle farming extension was in the high category at the level of planning and implementation, while at the evaluation level it was in the medium category.
