Abstract

Abstract This study aims to optimize the use of combine harvesters in rice harvesting activities in Maros Regency, and calculate the movement needs. This research was carried out from June 2023 in Maros Regency. This research uses a semi-participatory observation method. The parameters observed are the working capacity of the Combine Harvester which includes Theoretical Field Capacity and Effective Field Capacity, Field Efficiency, Harvest Capacity, Combine Harvester Requirements and Optimizing the movement of the Combine Harvester. The research results show that in dry land conditions TFC= 1.172 ha/hour, EFC=0.409 ha/hour, E=35.594%. In wetland conditions TFC= 0.821 ha/hour, EFC= 0.303 ha/hour, E= 37.456%. Harvest capacity 2.5 ha/day. The need for Combine Harvesters at the peak of the harvest in April is 146 units. Optimizing the minimum cost of moving the Combine Harvester for the April harvest by completing the transportation model using the Vogels Approximation Methods and completing the solution using POM for Windows software in April, the optimum cost of movements was IDR 99,250,000.
