Abstract

The amphidromous goby Lentipes mekonggaensis Keith & Hadiaty, 2014 is widely distributed in Sulawesi, in particular in Southeast and Central Sulawesi. The specimens studied were collected using an electro-shocker and hand nets from 18 riverine sites in Central Sulawesi. Each specimen was photographed, and conventional methods were used to obtain morphometric measurements and meristic counts. The rivers in Central Sulawesi were fast-flowing with a rocky substrate and many waterfalls or rapids, and provide ideal habitat for L. mekonggaensis. A discussion on the habitat preferences, distribution, conservation status and management of this species is provided.
