## Abstract
Abstract The palm sugar plant ( Arenga pinnata ) is versatile because all plant parts can be utilized. This plant also can grow in various soil conditions, except in acidic soils. The topography conditions of the area will affect palm sugar characteristics. This study aims to analyze the morphology of palm sugar based on the topography conditions of various areas in South Sulawesi Province. The research was carried out by analyzing the morphology of palm sugar with the topography conditions in each research area. The research results show that the growth in the four research areas has different morphologies, with the palm sugar tree growing in Bone Regency having the highest growth. Moreover, the diameter of the tapped inflorescence of palm trees growing in Sinjai Regency is the biggest. Regarding the topography conditions of the area of research, in general, they have met the growing requirements for palm sugar. Thus, it can be concluded that the different morphologies of palm sugar in the field of research are influenced not only by the region’s topography condition but also by other factors that are not specified yet in this study.
