Abstract
Air pollution control in carpentry workshops is carried out by collecting particles leftover from cutting wood materials using a dust collector system; one of the components is a cyclone separator scroll inlet type, the increase in the performance of the cyclone separator aims to increase the cyclone's ability to collect or separate particles when the cutting process is carried out or when cleaning the workshop area. Thus the air quality in the area is better. The use of the Taguchi method by determining the factors and levels, the experimental process was carried out to determine the response size in the form of the number of particles, ANOVA was carried out to determine the optimum factor and level, the validation process was carried out by testing using the optimum factor and level with several samples, the simulation process with CFD was carried out to associate with the experimental method. Based on the ANOVA process, it is known that the optimum factor and level are the helical angle at the inlet channel 5°, the outlet diameter is 57mm, the inlet speed is 10m/s, the average particle separation efficiency is 97.58%. In comparison, the simulation is based on 97.22%.
