Abstract
The redesign of the ship’s hull from monohull to catamaran is one of the technical ways to solve overfishing problems. This can provide a change in function in fishing operations. This research aims to conduct a feasibility study of hull form on monohull and catamaran with fixed displacement. This study covers both technical and economic issues. The research method used is to change the main principles of the monohull boat into a catamaran with a fixed displacement. A fishing boat with a capacity of 10 GT is the boat model used in this study. The model in question is based on actual environmental conditions. The effect of change in hull form will be calculated on the value of resistance and engine power, deck area and changes its function, as well as its economic feasibility based on indicators of NPV, IRR, and Pb values. The results showed that the maximum engine power used was 260 HP. The size of the engine will be limited by the main principles of the demihull and the weight of the displacement boat. The economic feasibility indicators showed NPV=Rp. 3,626,928. IRR=14 % and Pb=3.7 years, but the indicators in question are measured on the assumption maximum load, where it has a small possibility. The result of this study indicates that the change in hull form of monohull into catamaran boat in question is not feasible, both technically and economically.
