It contributes to CKD patients’ frailty, sarcopenia, and debility. PEW is not routinely evaluated during the medical care of patients with chronic kidney disease in Indonesia, despite its significance. The prevalence of PEW and its associated factors were identified in hemodialysis patients.METHODS: This was a cross-sectional study that involved 43 dialysis CKD patients. Body Mass Index (BMI), 7-scale subjective global assessment (SGA) scores were used in PEW assessment. The factors associated with PEW were identified. P value of <0.05 was taken as significant.RESULTS: The mean age was 48.05±13.8 years. Based on malnutrition status, subjects without malnutrition were 29.1% and those with mild-moderate malnutrition were 54.5%. On multiple logistic regression, the factors associated with PEW in CKD were age (P<0.049).CONCLUSIONS: The prevalence of PEW in HD patients at Hasanuddin university Makassar Hospital is 54.5% (mild to moderate malnutrition) and age is the independent factor that most contributes to the incidence of malnutrition in hemodialysis patients. ## Keywords - Wasting - Malnutrition - Medicine - Hemodialysis - Kidney disease - Body mass index - Cross-sectional study - Dialysis - Logistic regression - Internal medicine - Incidence (geometry) - Protein–energy malnutrition - Pathology - Optics - Physics --- Sumber: Discover Unhas — RIMS Universitas Hasanuddin.
