Abstract

Abstract This study aims to analyze the tensile strength effects of adding pigment pastes to ramie fiber-reinforced composites subjected to seawater immersion. The pigment paste variations in the composites were 0%, 5%, 7,5%, and 10%, with immersion durations of 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, and 14 weeks on a laboratory scale. All pigment addition variations and immersion durations in the composites were subjected to tensile testing. Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) and Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) analyses were also performed to examine the functional groups present in the composites and the morphology of the fracture surfaces from the tensile tests. The research results show that the effect of adding pigment pastes on tensile strength at variations of 0%, 5%, 7,5%, and 10% decreased compared to the normal sample values by 2,04%, 9,96%, 8,75%, and 10,0,4%, respectively, at week 14.
