Abstract

The study aim was to determine the influence of fortified rice contained Fe and Zinc elements on the blood profile of the children. The study showed non-anemia included case and control group had Fe and Zinc effect through fortified rice consumed. The mean corpuscular volume(MCV), mean corpuscular haemoglobin (MCH), mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration (MCHC) and red blood distribution width (RDW) level increased significantly (p<0.05) whereas MCH and erythrocyte level values in control group showed no increasing significantly (p>0.05). There was no significantly difference (p>0.05) on hematocrit, MCV, MCH, MCHC and RDW level values between case and control group. The fortified rice consumed in non-anaemia group increased haematocrit, erythrocyte, MCV.MCH, MCHC and RDW level (p<0.05). The balance nutrition food should provide to the student and increase food consumption that contained Vitamin C for good Fe element absorption. The student also need to reduce food or beverage contained iron- inhibiting absorbent such as tea.
