Abstract

Flood disaster has attracted the attention of various relevant agencies related to flood control especially Saddang Watershed. This could be proven by the frequency of flood events is quite high especially in the Central area of the Saddang watershed, precisely in Enrekang Regency at the confluence of the Mata Allo and Saddang River. Efforts that can be made to reduce the negative impact of channel characteristics, especially at the confluence of two rivers, are to analyze the discharge and flow patterns that occur. A numerical model is needed to describe the condition or flow pattern in a channel. One of the numerical models that can be used to simulate natural open channels such as rivers is Hec-RAS. The flow velocity under normal conditions in the Mata Allo River ranges from 0-1.85 m/second. Based on the analysis of the Froude number at several points, a critical and supercritical flow pattern is formed with a range of Froude values ≥ 1. The flow velocity under normal conditions on the Saddang River ranges from 0-5.5 m/second. Based on the analysis of the Froude number at several points, a critical and supercritical flow pattern is formed with a range of froude values ≥ 1. The flow velocity under normal conditions at the confluence of the mata allo and Saddang rivers ranges from 0 to 6.44 m/second. Based on the analysis of the Froude number at the confluence of the river is dominated by the formation of flow patterns critical and supercritical.
