Abstract

The soil moisture affects plant growth. This means that the water intensity in the soil must remain controlled. This research was focused on making a design and simulation of an automatic plant watering system for soil moisture control. The system consists of a soil moisture sensor, op-amp comparator, optocoupler, triode for alternating current (TRIAC), and water pump. The design and simulation were conducted by the Proteus 8 Professional application. The simulation results show the dry condition of soil indicated by a sensor voltage value of > 4.5 V. In this situation, the system will work and activate the pump to water the plants. The sensor value of < 4.5 V indicates the soil is in moist condition. The system will be inactive, or the water pump will be in the off-state.
