Abstract

Bearing capacity (qa) is defined as the ability of soil to support the burden on it. This ability is one of the essential parameters in geotechnical as the stage of development preparation. One way to obtain qa values using the geophysical method is to get a shear wave velocity (Vs). The multichannel analysis of surface waves (MASW) method is used in this research. This method is intended for surface waves analysis near the surface. Data acquisition using the MASW method was obtained in lines P1, P2A, and P2B. Data in the time domain is then transformed into the frequency domain through the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) and subsequently transformed into frequency-phase velocity. These transformations result ina dispersion curve, the relation between phase velocity and wave frequency. The inversion process can obtain the Vs profileat a depth of the curve. Based on the Vs profile, it is known that the type of site class on tracks P1 and P2A is type C (very dense soil), and P2B is type B (stiff soil), while the average value of qa on each line in the sequence is 969.13 kPa, 953.89 kPa, and 920.68 kPa.
