Abstract

This study analyzed the tearing strength of silk weaving fibers with variations in color and fiber composition based on weaving directions, namely Weft and warp. The tear test was carried out on three types of 100% silk woven fibers with different colors, namely A, B, and C color, and optimal results compared to 50% and 100% imitation woven fibers. As a result, 100% imitation silk woven fibers show the highest tear strength and consistency compared to real fibers. Meanwhile, based on color comparison, color B in the original fiber is superior in tear strength in the weft direction, while color A is superior in the warp direction. This research confirms the potential reliability of imitation fibers in composite applications at tear strength.
