Abstract

This research aims to improve the power quality of the electrical system by installing a single-tuned passive filter, focusing on reducing high harmonic distortion. Before the installation of the filter, the Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of the system measured 49.84%, above the standard permissible limit. After applying the single-tuned passive filter, the measurement results showed a significant reduction in THD to 2.79%, which complies with the IEEE 519–2014 standard. This reduction in harmonic distortion contributes to improving system operating efficiency and extending the life of the connected equipment. In order to ensure continuous power quality, harmonics monitoring measures will be implemented using the IEC 61850 communication protocol. This protocol enables the integration of real-time and standardized monitoring systems, facilitating effective monitoring and analysis of harmonics. With these significant results, using single-tuned passive filters proved to be an efficient solution for harmonic reduction. At the same time, the IEC 61850 protocol is expected to provide accurate and integrated monitoring capabilities to ensure power quality is maintained in the future.
