Abstract
The development of cellular technology in the past two decades has been very fast, the trending one is the 5th Generation (5G) cellular technology. This 5G cellular technology is designed for the type of Machine to Machine (M2M) service communication or better known as the Internet of Things (IoT). In Indonesia, 5G cellular technology officially started in 2021 when three local mobile operators implemented the service to public users. Until the present, 5G cellular networks in big cities in Indonesia were still limited to certain areas causing network quality to not be optimal, especially for users on the edge of the cell. Signal quality for users on the cell edge of the 5G network is still not optimal due to limited 5G service in Indonesia. Therefore, this paper is made to provide a solution to this problem. This paper proposes a dual band phased array antenna design that operates in band n3 with a frequency of 1,8 GHz and in band n40 with a frequency of 2,3 GHz. The antenna can adjust the beamwidth radiation pattern in the direction of 360° with 60° steps. Antenna performance has a return loss ≤ -10 dB on bands n3 and n40 with bandwidth of 446,2 MHz and 201,1 MHz respectively which is sufficient for broadband networks. The VSWR value of the antenna which is obtained is 1,13 and 1,22. The antenna design maximum gain is 11,3 dBi and 10,5 dBi.
